Spring Happenings…amigos!!!
The summer is upon us and we are excited for all the plans laid ahead and we are looking forward to it! But before we close down the spring we want to share and celebrate some of the cool things the Lord did down here in the Spring with friends who visited!
We loved having the youth from our home Church come down for a visit. Christ Journey is an amazing church in Miami, just recently celebrating 100 years of being a light of Jesus in Miami. God’s people affecting our home city, affecting the rest of the nation and out into the world!
These young people are so impressive in their ability and willingness to serve, they taught Bible lessons to hundreds of kids at Club Esperanza, deliverty food packs to families in the neighborhood, prayed over each one of them, played dust bowl soccer games, took kids to camp, painted the entire exterior wall, unloaded tons of food for the feeding program, and basically were the hands an feet of Jesus everywhere we went. It was so fun to be a part of.
In a powerful spiritual time this spring our friends Dr. Rene and Betty came down to minister at the church La Iglesia Hashem Addonai in the power of the Holy Spirit. It was a great time of filling and encouragment for the church and the community we serve there. Healing and deliverance happened and just as importantly men and women in the church recieving more gifts and power to minister the Gospel in powerful and effective ways. We loved being together and look forward to more viists in the future!
We also loved having friends come down with their families to serve with us but also give us life. Sometimes the Lord blesses you with life long friends and the Gackles are those kind of friends for us. From the days of getting saved at Christ Journey, to glory days at FSU, to finding ourselves serving the Lord away from our homes…God has blessed us with these awesome friends. We were so encouraged by their visit and definitely had fun just being together with our older kiddos…don’t ask about the crutches!
Another family that visited was the Putnam fam from California. Has anyone ever heard of pickle ball? Apparently it is a thing in America! Well, it is a growing sport in Nicaragua and now is in Managua down in the barrios. This crew of excellent pickle ballers who have a Bible study together brought the skills and the supplies to make some awesome memories…we are also establishing a pickle ball court at Quinta Amparo that will hopefully be ready this summer! We also had a great time together as families…it was a special Spring in that sense, such a blessing to hang together!
And then just recently late in the Spring we got to see our friends the Duncans from Oklahoma! We were together in Seminary at Golden Gate when we were young and newly married with no kiddos. The Lord has taken us on great adventures in different directions so it was soooooooooo awesome to see them again after too many years. Look how big all these kids are! I bet you can’t tell who the parents are hahahaha! We had fun visiting the Club together and also taking Robles to see the new Star Wars movie, but also had some great vacation times together visitng some beautiful lakes and volcanoes here in Nicaragua. We are so thankful and Praise Jesus for friends!
We also enjoy meeting new friends and sometimes it is in the craziest of ways. This spring friends in Colorado connected us to their friends who were looking for a pitstop on their motorcycle trip. Well, we got to hang out with Austin and Ellie who were coming up through Nicaragua on their Motorcycle and sidecar…this was their final leg of a three year trip around the World…yes THE WORLD! We got to hear some amazing stories, share some of our minsitry here with them and just enjoy their company. We loved being a pitstop on such an awesome journey!
And finally some other new friends who we got to spend time with were our brothers from Costa Rica and the Carolinas. These gentlemen host seminars on helping young business owners, church members, and pastors learn and lead financial responsibility and generosity. Their teachings are impactful and the affect on the lives of people young and old here in Nicaragua is pretty huge!
