On we go to our Summer Recap Numero Dos….
The summer is for fun and games….and we were so happy to have our friends from Canopy Roads in Florida join us and bring all sort of light and joy and love and fun with them! There is much room in our life with Jesus for contemplation, prayer, conviction, and introspection…we can’t leave that part out. But there is also time for feasting and laughter and being filled with life and joy! That is what we got to be a part of out in the rural areas outside Managua. Traveling from town to town in different churches along the way the Joy of Jesus was touching people’s lives!
Our friends from Wildwood were back with us….we are talking decades working together in Nicaragua and it is such a blessing when these young people take time out of their traveling to do ministry! There was an equal amount of fun and water games out at the Ranch. Rhetorical question, is there anything better than Giant Beach Volleyball played on a Slip N Slide??? Among all the fun, certainly the best part about being out at camp was the chance to have a little more time to be intentional with the campers. So many moments of prayer, deep conversation, and allowing the Lord to move in our lives. It was such a great week and everyone’s lives were drawn closer to Jesus!
A Special Place….to get to the chapel at Ruby Ranch you have to make a little bit of a hike. Sometimes you get to ride up in the back of a truck, but that can be a more of an adventure than you might have expected if I am driving hahaha. When you come over the hill and you see the cross, everything changes. The wind begins to blow and you can feel the Holy Spirit moving. To be so high up looking at a rugged wooden cross, sitting on simple wooden pews, the Chapel on the Hill at Ruby Ranch is a place were God’s presence is powerful felt. If you ever get a chance to make that hike, do it!
Working with the local church is also something that is so important. Our friends from Texas had the vision to go on retreat with their friends here in Nicaragua and they had a great time. The retreat time was a culmination to days spent at the church serving the congregation and putting on some serious Bible teaching. You might guess, but I will clarify…people from Texas don’t usually dress like this. It was a full send effort to get into Biblical character for their time teaching at the church, the extra effort made the impact all that much greater.
We loved to see our South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia tri state Jesus Loving, Kingdom of God building friends come and visit. The ministry we have in the more rural parts of Nicaragua is so special. If you haven’t visited it is hard to grasp how simple and exposed so many homes are here. We have a mission to put concrete floors in people’s homes, feed children in need, and hopefully in the end even be able to build homes! But we all know that God is so much bigger than just material things, and we absolutely love being able to sit with people in their homes and pray for them and share the Good News of Jesus Christ with them. Eternity is the goal, and with Jesus in our Hearts eternity with God is ours!
We had another amazing visit with Dr. Rene and Betty! Going to the deeper levels spiritually and gaining an understanding of the battles going on around us in the heavenly realms is such a blessing…when you sit with them that is where the conversation and the prayer and planning goes. It was again such a blessing to have them visit. We also had powerful times of ministry at La Iglesia Hashem Addonai. The teaching and the powerful ministry of healing was evident and God moved as they ministered!!!
At the end of the summer Mason and I got to travel with Papa (Mr. Buzbee) and some other amazing men of God to San Diego for a time of ministry together. We gathered to support S.O.C. which is a ministry focused on the Navy Seal community. It is an amazing ministry that reaches out with support in hard times but even more importantly is establishing resources and consistent involvement for those men to find community in Christ in the middle of their service. It was a great time of worship together, prayer together and seeing some awesome places where the warriors train. Mason and I both were greatly impacted!
This is the bench right outside the Library at the campus of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary where Krista and I spent the first years of our marriage. We so many amazing relationships with friends established and grew so deep into our knowledge and calling from God! I loved to see the bench again and be able to visit Tichenor visit which was our little apartment in the woods. So many awesome memories and it was so fun to visit with Aliyah and Mason on our World Cup trip…as you can see from Mason and his talents! Krista and I will hopefully be able to make a trip back together one day, it was such a special place and I wanted to put it up here on our blog!
Last but not least on our extra long blog post filled with lots of pictures is our visit from Joseph and Jackson, our cousins from Vero Beach. We hadn’t had them down since they were just tiny little toddlers. Covid messed up our planned visit and so we got half the Rahal clan down. Both are awesome young men and great surfers. We love surfing all the secret waves and popular waves in Nicaragua and it was such a blessing to be with them!
If you stuck it out to the end here, bless your soul LOL. Really thank you for keeping up with us! We are doing well and hope to get back on the blog with shorter posts soon. God is good and we are keeping busy with Jesus things! Don’t forget what Jesus tells us….
“Let your light shine before men, that they might see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven”. Matthey 5:16
…in whatever you do this week, find a way to do something good and let the Light of Jesus shine on the people the Lord has put in your life! We are called to be light in a world that sometimes can be very dark. You never know how the Lord might use you to brighten someone’s day!
Thank you for your support and prayers!
