We were robbed last thursday…

Please be praying for all of us down here, for safety, for wisdom, for God’s peace to be with us.  We had a tragic incident last Thursday.  Armed men came onto the compound and robbed us at gunpoint.  There were three of them in the Buzbee’s house and they held guns to Vilma’s head (the administrator here who many of you know) and walked her through the house to the safe.  They stole all of the cash from teams this summer, the office computer and Mrs. Buzbees jewelry box.  As you can imagine this was a very scary troubling thing to have happen.

The loss was big, but it is miraculous that nothing tragic happened.  I (chris) was at Miss Ruby’s praying with a group from North Carolina with Mr. Buzbee.  Brinson was out with a team at Ruby Ranch.  Krista was home with our kids and her mom had just walked down to our house minutes before the men arrived.  The men drove in our gate that had been left open after the Trash truck came.  They were in and out quickly.  But miraculously not one of the worker or anyone else walked up to the house during the robbery, and Vilma stayed calm and really saved all of us from real tragedy…the thieves walked her through the house at gunpoint even while the Buzbee kids were doing homework on the porch.  After they got the money and what they could grab they left as quickly as they came.

It really feels like the Lord had his hand on us even in tragedy.  Evil wanted to reek havoc but God parted the way for them to go into the house, get what they wanted and leave without seriously harming anyone.  They were heavily armed and we have numerous arms here on the farm and if anyone had walked up and things escalated there could have been real tragedy.  We are grateful beyond anything you could imagine to know that God kept us from harm and nothing like that happened.

Of course it is still difficult to know that men with guns were here with bad intentions.  We are all still reeling and trying to figure out exactly what happened.  The police are investigating, and seem to be very thorough.  Please pray for us all, like I said, for safety, for God to bring to light what happened, for Evil to be defeated, and for God’s peace to conquer any fear that rises up!  We wanted to let everyone know sooner but have only now been able to get on this blog….but we let you know so you will pray.  Please pray!

Krista’s mom Sue reads every morning from Spurgeon’s Morning & Evening….this is the devotional that her and Mr. B read the morning after the robbery. ….we were all encouraged.  God is with us!

“We know that all things work together for good to them that love God.” –Romans 8:28

“If I should lose all I have, it is better that I should lose than have, if God so wills: the worst calamity is the wisest and the kindest thing that could befall to me if God ordains it.” “We know that all things work together for good to them that love God.” The Christian does not merely hold this as a theory, but he knows it as a matter of fact.

We have a need for God right now in a difficult time.  We have a trust in God that He is at work even in a difficult time.  We know that God has been moving in great ways down here over the last three months and that Satan is a liar, a thief and a murderer and will do all he can to hinder the purposes of God.  The glory will be to Jesus….God is with us….Amen!  Thank you for your prayers.

A tragic type thing like this is so wild, because life doesn’t just stop for us to ponder….everything just keeps moving. Amongst everything else in this event that God has shown us, he has given us that glimpse of reality. It seems like something so impactful would or should leave a moment to breath and reflect, but the train keeps moving. We find great confidence and power knowing that God is driving the train. Thank you all again…we love you!
