Robles: Denis University Scholarship…

Those of you who have known us for years certainly know about Robles, our ministry to at risk boys from the La Chureca Municipal City Dump community. We have been working with at risk boys for almost two decades and it has been a real joy. As with anything there are ups and downs but we really want to celebrate the impact God has had on the lives of our Robles boys, boys who are now young men! Do you remember Denis?

Denis moved out on his own from Robles this past year and the Lord has led him into a pretty awesome opportunity. He is joining Fredder in the Northern part of Nicaragua. He has found a job there and this job will allow him to continue studying at University. Denis is going to work towards a degree in accounting, he has always done will in Mathematics and this type of degree will allow him to find work most easily once he graduates. This is why we are sharing an update on Denis…

Will you consider donating towards a university scholarship for Denis?

His scholarship would be $65 a month

In that first photo I was dropping Denis off at the bus stop earlier this year. He made it up to join Fredder in time for his birthday in January. Fredder is now a leader in the Assemblies of God Church on a national level and Denis is able to join him in that fellowship as well. It is a really exciting thing to see these young men growing on their own, seeking the Lord, and being faithful to work and study. God is good! If you aren’t able to support Denis financially, please be praying for him! He will be so blessed by this support!

Robles means Oak Tree in English. It comes from this scripture in Isaiah…

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
    instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called Oaks of Righteousness,
    a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.

Isaiah 61:1-3

Lord we bless and pray for Denis as he grows into his 20s. Bless him as he seeks you and help him to continue to grow into an Oak of Righteousness! Amen.
