Open Hearts International Children's Relief Mission
Before we jump into a hodge podge of news and family updates from the Spring, we want to take a moment and ask your for you support for our family as missionaries. We have been able to serve the Lord here in Nicaragua for almost twenty years now, and we have always lived as “Faith Missionaries.” We don’t have a salary or a big organization behind us. We live and serve here by faith knowing that this is what God has called us to and that God will provide. So, if you have ever thought to or prayed about financially supporting our family…please do! We would be so blessed by that. We are so thankful to God for all of the support we have received over the years.
You can find donation information here…or use the National Christian Foundation and PayPal buttons below…Thank you Amigos!

Easter week (Semana Santa) was a great time at Club Esperanza! La Iglesia Hashem Addonai hosted a week of Spiritual Emphasis for all of our students, for all of the kids who come to church and for their families in the community! There were many special moments of prayer and worship, baptisms, foot washings, and times of devotion focused on leaving all of our cares, worries, wounds and shortcomings at the foot of the Cross! It was such a great time, and because Pastor Roberto and Sheyla are awesome leaders they knew that Semana Santa is the hottest week of the year…so, they rented a bounce house with a pool at the bottom!!! Praise the Lord for blow up pools in the dry season!
We also had some great time as a family on Easter. We spent time with our family and good friends that came in to town. We took advantage of the vacation week to visit a volcano, zip line on the volcano, walk around Granada and head to the beach for a couple days…we Celebrated Krista’s Birthday while we were at the beach as well!

Easter week was so great, but earlier in the Spring our girls got to participate in a camp out at Ruby Ranch with Uncle Brinson and the Ohran Family. It was an amazing time hosting a Women’s Ministry from a local church in Managua. The time in the wide open spaces of the Ranch were blessed by great times of worship and play and joy and devotion to Jesus. The time by the camp fire under the stars went way into the night, the prayer times were powerful, and the chance to be together at such a beautiful place was blessed in a very special way! Not to mention the beautiful meals together!

More News from Ruby Ranch….you may remember our previous post about the dream to build a Carpentry Shop and Training Center out at the Ranch. Well Praise the Lord and pass the chicken…construction has been under way and is getting close completion! Such exciting things…if you would like to keep up with happenings at the ranch shoot an email to info@rubyranch.org to get on the mailing list.

Now on to some family Updates….our Aliyah is home for the Summer! She had an amazing first year of college doing Tallahassee State College online. She has had some amazing experiences living with family and friends all over the US this past year so she could work as well as do her studies online. First it was with Melissa and Coburn and the cousins in North Carolina, then great friends in Pennsylvania and Oklahoma, finally with Mema and family in Miami…and toss in a quick trip to France and an amazing trip to the Passion Conference in Atlanta…we are so proud of Aliyah! We are also very excited to have her home for summer as we gear up to serve the Lord with friends and family all summer long down here!
She doesn’t have any plans set yet for next Fall, so we are excited to see what God has in store! Being able to do college online has really been a cool experience for her…and for us. We appreciate your abundant prayers over our girl and her future!!!
Mason has been doing well also as he is finishing up high school. He is half way through his Senior Year (we do the Nicaraguan School Year) and is praying about what might be next for him. In the mean time he is a part of Monday Night Men’s Bible Study one of their groups here in Nicaragua, he is playing Varsity Basketball at the local high school, he is driving his sisters around wherever they want to go, and he surfs…as often as he can!!! In fact, he and Aliyah started a little Instagram page Open Ocean Surf if you wanna check it out…a work in progress but lots of fun in their free time!
Then their is this news…he is getting tall and big and strong…and passing his Old Man! I think he has me by about a centimeter or two…it could be that I am shrinking LOL! We are so proud of Mason and hope you will join with us and praying for him and for the things God has for his future!

Our Isabella is a baller! She has scored a couple goals as she is picking up the game of soccer with her team Chiqui FC….they actually have a Copa Championship game tonight in the National Stadium here, which is a special treat. We have been really blessed by this club team and the people who organize it. Soccer is far from Bella’s main thing, I just have a bunch of pictures of it! She is doing well in school and has a love for books that is unrivaled…it is either from her Aunt Ebi or her Mema and Tia Kim…or probably all of them. She loves to have a real book when she can but has recently settled into the world of Kindle. If you make a trip down bring your favorite new book in the real book format, she would love that.
Bella is growing into a very beautiful and strong young woman, we love knowing that so many of you pray for her and for our family…we want our kiddos to be blessed and have Jesus’s purposes in every aspect of their life!
Juliette is doing great too! We laugh as I am sure most families with more than one child do about how different life is for the last one of the bunch. So many more privledges, so many less rules…maybe forgotten on occasion hahahah….never! We are blessed by our Juju and she brings so much life to all of us. And guess what, this Spring she turned THIRTEEN! We had a fun beach party with her and are still trying to get over the fact that all of our kiddos are now teenagers….God is good and we are thankful for every moment we have had with all of them. Thank you again friends for covering our family in your prayers!

IMPORTANT PRAYER REQUEST: We want to close out this Spring Blog post with the most important of prayer requests. Many of you know Mama Angelica from Casa Robles personally and many of you have kept up with Casa Robles over the years on the blog. Mama Angelica had a recurrence of cancer in her lung this Spring. She went through surgery this month to remove the tumor and a portion of her lung. She is recovering well from surgery and waiting on post operation meetings with doctors this week. Would you please be in prayer for her complete healing. Cancer is a difficult disease and there are so many decisions and variables involved…so we just want to set this cancer before the Lord and ask God to heal her. Make this tumor be local, make the surgery a great success, make her body whole again…Lord give her great care and healing…we ask you to do these things in Jesus name, Amen.
We bless you this weekend….all the way from Nicaragua!
God Bless you and Thank you!!!
